Trusts are a very misunderstood concept: most people see them as complicated and only for the exceedingly wealthy. This is not necessarily the case, and Trusts have been an integral part of our legal framework since the days of the crusades, when Lords used to transfer their castle and land to the custody of their friends or family when heading off to war to safeguard them for their wives and children!

Times have changed greatly since then, but the underlying principles remain the same. A Trust is a formal transfer of money or assets (such as property) to two or more people (referred to as Trustees) who look after the assets for other peoples’ benefit under the terms of the Trust.

In the current day, Trusts can be a very flexible method of potentially safeguarding assets against taxes, future financial difficulties or as a way of providing for young, incapacitated or disabled people in the future.

At Mills Kemp & Brown we can assist with the creation and management of trusts to deal with any circumstances and we aim make matters as simple and trouble free as possible. Whether it is to look after your Castle or your town centre terrace, we are more than happy to assist.

Home visits or an appointment in a ground floor room can be arranged – please ask about this when making an appointment
