Most people think
that Probate is only necessary if there is not a Will. This is incorrect.
Probate is, basically, the legal authentication of a Will after the death of
the person who made it, and recognition of the Executors as properly dealing
with the affairs of the person who has died.
This is the document
usually required by Banks, Building Societies and other organisations before
they will close the accounts and hand over the assets to the Executors to deal
with under the terms of the Will.
Assistance with the obtaining of the
Grant of Probate is just one of the ways that Mills Kemp & Brown can assist
with the matters following the death of an individual. Every estate is as
different as the person whose affairs it is dealing with. We can therefore help
you with whatever needs to be dealt with including contacting the Banks and
other organisations, dealing with tax issues, ensuring that the wishes of the
deceased are carried out and making sure that everything that needs to be done
is dealt with as swiftly and painlessly as possible.
Whilst we are able
to assist with all aspects of estates we are aware that some clients prefer to
deal with some matters themselves. We therefore feel that it is important that
we can be approached at any stage of dealing with an estate whether it
is for us to assist from the beginning, or for a bit of advice as to what needs
to be done next - we are more than happy to assist as much or as little as
requested.
It is also important to ensure that that on inheritance
your own estate is not left vulnerable to taxes or other such risks. We can
therefore offer friendly and experienced advice in all aspects of tax and
future planning to safeguard the inheritance of the next
generations.
